Christmas Tree Lot Days 8, 9 & 10

Hi there on this chilly Sunday night.  The sun shone bright today but boy once the sun went down it got cooooolllllllllldddddd!  I am sitting in the motor home with my fleece jacket on plus parked right by the electric heater.  Heard from a guy today that it is supposed to be getting colder in the next few days.

Didn't sell too many trees on Friday but Saturday and Sunday were much better.  On Saturday we sold 17 trees!   One young couple was quite fun to chat with.  They bought a 7' tree and then didn't know if it would fit on their little car.  Ron and I said no problem.  See we can do whatever we need to do to sell a tree.

Ron tying the tree to their car.  They brought a blanket to go underneath of the tree.
See it fit, no problem.
Today we sold 25!  It never got super busy but steady throughout the day.  Our hours on the weekends are 8:00 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.  Not quite sure they want us to be open so early as our first customer yesterday was 10:30 a.m. and today it was about 9:30 a.m.  But since we live here on the lot guess it doesn't really matter what time we open.

This guy lives right around the corner from the lot so he just hoisted the tree up on his shoulder and walked home with it.  It was a 6 1/2' tree with a good size trunk.

We have been able to visit with a few people about how the Lord has blessed us this year and led us here to sell Christmas trees.  We have heard about a couple of local churches that have Christmas Eve services.  One that I checked on we are not going to be able to attend as the service starts at 6:00 p.m.  With having to be open till 5:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve we don't think we can make it to that one on time.  Another couple we talked to today said their service is at 7 and 9 p.m.  We think we will be able to make the 9:00 p.m. for sure though we may try to make the 7 p.m. service.

Things have quieted down now for the evening.  We might get a couple of more customers tonight but once it gets dark the customers usually don't come.  I know, I would want to see the tree we were going to buy in the daylight though it is quite bright on the lot with all the lights around the top.

Here are a couple pictures of a special Christmas cactus that we have.  Sure hope you enjoy them.
My Christmas cactus with its first bloom of the season.  This is the only plant we have in the motor home.  It has a special place in our heart as it was started from a cutting off of a Christmas cactus that his Grandma Workentin had given to Eldon & Gloria Balzer.  We have had the plant for over 10 years.
